Thank you to everyone who supported us in raising $2500 for Paws and Affection by donating for our runners. Beesly was at the finish line to greet all the finishers and brought smiles to the faces of many racers.
Our very own Program Director, Susie Daily, and Board Chair, Chad O’Kane, as well as Phil Gibbon, one of our foster dads, finished the race and we are so proud of them. We also had 4 other runners stretch themselves to finish this race and we are appreciative of all their efforts.
Check out the video below to see how our amazing puppies are performing. They are learning more and more each day as well as seeing the world and experiencing new things. We couldn’t be more proud of them!
Susie and Laura made the trek to Georgia and back to get the puppies and it was a very successful trip. The puppies come from Canine Assistants, a service dog organization outside of Atlanta, and are bred for service. They were all checked out by the Paws and Affection veterinarians at Devon Veterinary Hospital and are in perfect health! Susie and Laura are so excited to begin this journey of training and service with them. Get acquainted with each of the precious puppies by clicking on their name –
Paws and Affection is excited to announce we have been invited to speak at the Urban Outfitters corporate campus in Philadelphia on Friday November 14th! Susie and Laura will talk to employees during their lunch hour about the role of service dogs and the use of positive reinforcement training to poise them for success.
Because we reached our fundraising goal on Indiegogo we are ready to get our first litter of puppies! They will arrive in mid December so get ready for more and more news as well as cute puppy pictures! They are currently 4 weeks old and will be 16 weeks when we get them. We are in the process of finding a foster family for each of them so send us a message if you’re interested!
Today is an exciting day for us. We have launched our indiegogo campaign to raise $5000 for our first litter of puppies. Indiegogo is a crowdfunding site we can share with anyone and everyone asking them to donate. We thank you so much for your support already and now need a favor. We are hoping you will share the link below with people in your lives and encourage them to support us as well. We could not have come this far without your support and we are so lucky to have all of you behind us as we further our mission.
Great news came in the mail today! Paws and Affection is now an official 501(c)3 organization as our application for tax exempt status was approved! We are so excited to announce that all donations are tax deductible and we are looking forward to beginning our fund raising campaign. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and who will in the future.
We are officially up and RUNNING!! So excited to share with everyone all that we have been working so hard to accomplish. Now to move to the next step of raising money! Thanks to all who are supporting us.
Sometimes understanding how a dog and child can bond is very hard to believe. It is not easily explained by science or documented in a text book. But this bond is real and it happens. The video below is a great example of what a dog can do for a child with a disability. This dog has no formal service dog training, but his innate ability to help immediately came to light the moment the two met. The bond they formed has only strengthened over time and they are an inspirational team. Watching this 9 minute video provides understanding of how the bond happens between dog and child.
